Apoo was a member of the Beasts Pirates who, in the end, tried to betray them but managed to survive unscathed and seems to have left Wano Country. Where is he now, and what is he up to?
Let’s dive into this topic!
The Villain Thrives
When I look at Apoo, I can’t help but think of the saying, “The villain thrives.”
In the Sabaody Archipelago arc, Apoo said, “When you anger an enemy, you run,” and indeed, he attacked Kizaru (Borsalino), angered him, and then fled. He likely wanted to laugh at the chaos and the consequences others would suffer from his actions.
However, he ended up fleeing from Borsalino’s retaliation. Apoo’s personality clearly shows that he enjoys causing trouble and gets a thrill from escalating situations.
But he’s also aware of his own abilities and limitations, which is why he joined Kaido after entering the New World, working as an informant and enjoying the freedom under Kaido’s protection. When Drake betrayed the Beasts Pirates, Apoo openly declared his hatred for him.
As the Beasts Pirates’ situation became precarious, Apoo, already plotting with the Numbers and Drake, tried to position himself as the ultimate victor. His actions are those of a true trickster, yet despite all this, he somehow survived nearly unscathed and managed to leave Wano Country.
Apoo has been reckless and survived, which could be attributed to both his luck and his skill. His notoriety only increased during the Wano arc, and it seems likely that he might cause more significant trouble in the future.
This is why his next move is so intriguing. Will he join another Yonko, or will he attempt to rise as a pirate on his own?
If he does choose to serve another Yonko, it’s unlikely he would serve under Luffy, and he probably wouldn’t be welcomed by Shanks either.
So, it seems he might join Cross Guild or the Blackbeard Pirates…
