The Meaning Behind the Combination of Saint Nasujurou, Bako, and the First Kitetsu | Is He the Strongest of the Five Elders? What About His Ice-Cold Slashes?

It has been revealed that Saint Nasujurou is the user of the Japanese yokai Bako’s abilities, and his combat prowess seems to be formidable. In this section, I will explore this topic further!

The Only Weapon-Wielding Elder

Saint Nasujurou has always been depicted with a sword, which seems to be a part of his very being, as he even holds onto it in the presence of Im-sama, whom the Five Elders revere as their creator. Unlike the other Five Elders—such as Saint Saturn, who always carries a staff but doesn’t use it as a weapon—Nasujurou appears to be the only one among them who actually wields a weapon, a sword, at all times. This strongly suggests that he is a swordsman, a samurai.

I’ve written previously about his potential connections to Wano Country, and it’s hard to believe he’s entirely unrelated. Even if he’s not directly linked, the fact that he never parts with his beloved sword indicates that they are inseparable, implying he is undoubtedly a swordsman of extraordinary skill, possibly influenced by the samurai of Wano.

The fact that none of the other Five Elders use weapons makes his character as a swordsman stand out even more. If we assume that his beloved sword is the “First Kitetsu,” it doesn’t yet seem to have turned into a black blade. Enma, as well as the second and third Kitetsu swords, are all considered cursed blades and may be difficult to blacken. So, even if he is a highly skilled and strong swordsman, it might indicate that he hasn’t yet reached the level of Ryuma or Mihawk…

Zoro and Shiryu, as well as Roger and Oden-sama, have yet to achieve the black blade status, but they are still incredibly powerful. However, it seems that those with Devil Fruit abilities might rely on their powers more than on swordsmanship, which could hinder the transformation into a black blade. But what exactly are Bako’s abilities?
