Who Was Mother Carmel? | Mother Carmel as a Saint

Who Was Mother Carmel? | A Kind-Hearted Villain?

Mother Carmel, who saved the Giant Warrior Pirates from execution after they were captured by the Marines about 100 years ago and who gathered and raised orphans, was revered as a saint. However, she was also secretly involved in human trafficking, earning her the title of the Mountain Witch. Was she truly a villain at heart?
Let’s delve into that today!

Mother Carmel as a Saint

Mother Carmel was revered as a saint for saving the giants of the Giant Warrior Pirates, who were captured by the Marines after the loss of their two captains and for acting as a bridge between Elbaf and the World Government. She also gathered and raised orphans. However, behind this facade, she was involved in human trafficking, selling the orphans she raised as Marines or CP agents.
First, let’s consider her image as a “saint.”

Her saintly image was a facade created in collaboration with the World Government, but the actions she took weren’t lies.
Although her act of saving the Giant Warrior Pirates was a performance orchestrated with the Government, she did genuinely raise orphans.
No matter what she did behind the scenes, raising children with her own hands is no small feat, and even if it was an act, the children clearly felt loved by her.
Even if it was all an act, the fact that she didn’t leave it to others and personally took care of them like a true mother means that the children must have felt happiness and security under her care.
In that sense, it could be said that she fulfilled her role as a saint.Even though she eventually sold them to the Marines or CP, she didn’t just take care of them but also provided them with proper education. Carmel treated the children with great kindness.
Even with Linlin, who was considered an invaluable asset that she couldn’t let go of, she acted like a mother, protecting her despite Linlin’s dangerous tendencies.
This is far more maternal than Linlin’s biological parents, who abandoned her, and in that sense, Mother Carmel the Saint was a real presence.
Because her true nature remained hidden and she disappeared from this world without her secret being exposed, she died as a saint.
However, the Mountain Witch side of Carmel certainly existed as well…
