Was Dr. Clover’s Brother Killed by CP? | The Will of Extinction
Section heading: The Will of Extinction

In ONE PIECE Chapter 1121, the Buccaneer Tribe, Lunarians, and the Three-Eye Tribe were described as rare races whose existence was destined for extinction due to the course of history. It seems that this might also apply to the “D.”

While these three races are seen as inconvenient due to their very existence, the “D” represents a will—a shared will among those who bear it.

There are “D” bearers among the Giant Tribe as well, which means they don’t all share a common ancestor…

It seems that the “D” is similar to how the Celestial Dragons, who are now collectively called the World Nobles, trace their lineage back to the Twenty Kings.

Among the “D” bearers, some hide their “D” while others flaunt it openly. Those who hide it probably do so to avoid being purged as inconvenient beings, and naturally, hiding it makes it easier to survive…

But why have those who flaunt their “D” openly been able to survive?

It’s possible to imagine that their strength or sheer luck made it impossible for anyone to kill them, but not all of them are such formidable figures…

Given that the “D” bears no meaning to those who have forgotten it, and there’s no mutual aid among them, the World Government likely still wants to eliminate anyone who bears the “D.”

The “D” bearers who hide it likely began doing so after seeing others being targeted and eliminated.

But even so, it’s hard to understand why those who flaunt their “D” have been allowed to survive…

Personally, I think that while the FIVE ELDERS, as seen from their actions in the Egghead arc, might not want to provoke a massive conflict, it’s hard to believe that Im-sama would order something like that…

It’s possible that Im-sama is allowing the “D” bearers who flaunt it to exist because they believe that another great battle is inevitable, and that this time, they will completely wipe out the “D” will once and for all.

If the world were to sink back into the ocean completely, the “D” would likely be extinguished as well…

If the “D” hunt has been ongoing, it could be that the FIVE ELDERS’ actions, without understanding Im-sama’s true intent, were ultimately futile…
