Is Kizaru Retiring? Cutting Ties with Akainu? | Retirement and Severance?
Retirement and Severance?
Considering Borsalino’s role as a corporate drone, his carefree and absent-minded persona may have been a facade he created to endure his situation.
While his original personality might be easy-going, we now know he is genuinely kind-hearted. If that’s the case, the seemingly ruthless aspects of his character may have been forced, and creating a separate persona might have been his way of coping.
I’ve discussed this in past articles, but it seems increasingly difficult for Borsalino to continue playing the role of Kizaru, Admiral of the Navy.
If he remains in the Navy, he risks being ordered to kill someone dear to him again.
Disobeying such an order would mean punishment, making it psychologically unbearable for him to stay in the Navy. Therefore, retirement is a strong possibility.
While losing Borsalino would be a significant blow to the Navy, it would be a direct consequence of the policies of the World Government and Sakazuki’s leadership.
The World Government likely knew about Borsalino’s friendship with Vegapunk, yet still ordered him to kill his friend, highlighting the cruelty of the FIVE ELDERS.
Sakazuki, who follows the orders of the FIVE ELDERS faithfully—or perhaps shares similar views—seems to hide his more human side. Still, Borsalino, who has regained his humanity, may find it impossible to follow Sakazuki any longer.
While Borsalino may appreciate Sakazuki’s human qualities, it’s common in human relationships for people to part ways even if they respect each other as individuals.
Moreover, Borsalino is completely enraged by Sakazuki’s words, so if he leaves the Navy, it could mean cutting ties with Sakazuki altogether.
Given the numerous challenges Sakazuki faces, he likely doesn’t want to lose Borsalino, but if Borsalino mentions retirement, Sakazuki probably won’t try to stop him.
While Black Horse Tensai might be one of Sakazuki’s advisors, losing someone Sakazuki calls “brother” could bring about significant changes in him.
People like Sakazuki often tend to spiral out of control when isolated…
