Saint Marcus Mars and the Abilities of Itsumade | Possible Connections to Mihawk’s Origins?
Possible Connections to Mihawk’s Origins?
I’ve recently suggested that the countries from which the Five Elders originate may have appeared in some form in the series. Given Mars’ title as the “Environmental Warrior God” and his connection to the yokai Itsumade, I wonder if he might be linked to the abandoned Shikkearu Kingdom on Kuraigana Island.
This kingdom, which was embroiled in a civil war for many years and eventually fell, was where Dracule Mihawk took residence. When Mihawk arrived, the island was still shrouded in smoke, with corpses scattered around—an image strikingly reminiscent of the legend of Itsumade. While Mars likely had no direct hand in the kingdom’s downfall, the way it perished aligns with the ominous nature of the yokai.
Moreover, Mihawk, known as “Hawk Eyes,” bears a name that also resonates with birdlike imagery, drawing a parallel to the yokai Itsumade. It’s possible that Mihawk or the Dracule family were originally from Shikkearu, or even that Mihawk is a descendant of the royal family left behind when the Marcus family moved to Mary Geoise. This would create an intriguing connection between Mars and Mihawk, suggesting that Mihawk’s settlement on the island is more than mere coincidence.
The idea that Mars might hail from a land so harsh that it’s almost uninhabitable is fascinating, especially since it aligns with his eerie aura. Despite his formidable powers, Mars likely harbors no sentimentality for his origins, whether they are flourishing or in ruins. A kingdom resembling a demon world would certainly match the image of Mars, especially with his connection to a yokai like Itsumade.
Another point of interest is why Mars bears the name of a planet known for its harsh, uninhabitable conditions.
