What Was the Ancient Robot Created For? | For the Advancement of Humanity?
For the Advancement of Humanity?
If the Ancient Robot was simply created to win a war against the First 20, then it wouldn’t have needed a consciousness, would it? Stussy once asked Kuma, “Which is more unfortunate: a clone with a mind of its own, or a mindless human weapon?” This might be the underlying theme of the Egghead Island arc.
If it were merely a combat robot, it would have sufficed to be a machine like the General Franky, controlled and operated by humans. In a way, giving a machine consciousness and emotions could be considered cruel.
However, if it was given consciousness, there must have been a reason. Personally, I believe the Ancient Robot was created for the advancement of humanity.
Its true purpose might have been to perform tasks that humans couldn’t achieve on their own. Perhaps it was designed to extract energy sources from locations unreachable by humans. But maybe those who created it didn’t intend to use it as a mere tool, but rather created it as a companion.
Instead of treating it as a robot, they might have seen it as a new species, born from the advancement of humanity. They resisted the idea of using it as a mere machine, and perhaps, they rewarded it with things it desired or showed it appreciation whenever it worked for them.
That’s why I believe it fought to protect those who created it, out of its own will.
If Luffy learns that the Ancient Robot has a consciousness, he would likely want to befriend it, and if it helps him, he would definitely thank it and give it something in return. Winning the battle during the Void Century might have been seen as a step forward for humanity’s progress, but they lost, and the path to progress was closed off.
Now, 800 years into the future, can the Ancient Robot contribute to the advancement of humanity once more? I’m really looking forward to seeing it in action!
This concludes the article. Thank you very much for reading it to the end!
