A Weapon for the Void Century’s Final Battle?
The World Government possesses the Navy as a force to counter pirates and revolutionaries, and they have developed and deployed powerful human weapons like the Pacifista and the Seraphim. Was the Ancient Robot also created as a weapon to defeat an enemy?
The combat abilities of the Ancient Robot are still unknown, and we can’t tell whether it’s strong or weak, but it certainly doesn’t seem weak by any means. It’s likely far more powerful than the Pacifista, but there is only one of these Ancient Robots…
There are seven Seraphim, and over 50 Pacifista were created, so it’s hard to imagine the Ancient Robot was intended as a weapon for war if it were the only one. Could it be that there was once a whole army of Ancient Robots, and that only the one at Egghead reawakened after 200 years, or was it that the battles during the Void Century were so intense that only this one Ancient Robot at Egghead survived?
If there were indeed an army of Ancient Robots, then it’s likely that each one possessed extraordinary power, perhaps to the point that just one was sufficient for battle. If that’s the case, then the Ancient Robot might be an incredibly formidable monster.
But if it was created solely for combat, why would it need a consciousness? The Ancient Robot apologized to Joy Boy upon awakening, but without consciousness, it wouldn’t be able to distinguish between good and evil, nor would it be capable of expressing remorse. Why was the Ancient Robot given consciousness?
