Was Vegapunk Involved in Drake’s Turn to Piracy? | Why Was There Such a Need for Weapons and Armaments?

Why Was There Such a Need for Weapons and Armaments?

The World Government is a vast organization that already controls the world and possesses immense military power. Yet, they continued to push Vegapunk to develop more weapons and even purchased arms from Wano, a country controlled by the pirate Doflamingo and later by Kaido, who used it as a weapons production hub. Why did they need so many weapons and armaments?

Of course, if left unchecked, weapons would become outdated and are consumables that would weaken military power over time. But this seems excessive… The funds spent on military expenditures could be used to help impoverished member nations or benefit the people who pay the Heavenly Tribute, but the World Government chooses not to do so…

In previous articles, I speculated that the Celestial Dragons might be using the CP to instigate wars in both member and non-member nations, selling weapons through illegal channels to countries in need, and engaging in a war economy. Given the massive spending on weapon procurement and development, it’s likely that even the Heavenly Tribute alone wouldn’t be enough to sustain the lavish lifestyles of the Celestial Dragons. So, it wouldn’t be surprising if they were involved in something of this nature.

They’ve even wiped out native populations to take over resource-rich islands… No matter how many people die, as long as they profit and live in luxury, they likely feel no guilt about their war business.

Drake might have been investigating such matters in his role with SWORD for a long time. Perhaps he even questioned why human weapons were necessary at Egghead. From his perspective, it didn’t seem like he viewed Egghead favorably or believed it was something that must be protected at all costs…

Additionally, his father might have been caught up in something similar, which could explain why he had to leave the Navy…
