Is “He” Joy Boy?
Does Vegapunk’s Philosophy Reject Good and Evil? | Is “He” Joy Boy?
Vegapunk mentions that he cannot discuss good and evil because he doesn’t know enough about “him” to make a judgment. While Vegapunk does speak of Nika, I believe that “he” refers to Joy Boy. Vegapunk has likely learned about Nika from ancient texts and through conversations with Kuma, meaning he has ample information about Nika. Nika, the liberator of the people, seems to embody the middle way. However, Vegapunk admits that he does not have enough information to judge “him”—which I believe points to Joy Boy.
We still don’t know exactly what Joy Boy’s intentions or actions were, but it’s possible that his goals aligned with the middle way. Unfortunately, Vegapunk couldn’t fully grasp Joy Boy’s philosophy due to the lack of information available. However, it’s likely that some of Joy Boy’s goals were similar to what Vegapunk attempted to achieve in the present day. Despite the changing times, humanity’s desire for progress and happiness remains a constant truth, and this truth underpins the philosophy of the middle way.
As a supreme genius who made significant contributions across various fields of study, Dr. Vegapunk might have reached the truth of the world: that the middle way is humanity’s true path. This philosophy might also be a latent ideology held by all of humanity. Joy Boy predicted that someone like him would reappear, and perhaps this prediction was based on the certainty that the middle way is the ultimate truth for humanity.
