Are Scholars Also Enemies of the World Government, Not Just Pirates and the Revolutionary Army? | The Predecessors of Ohara
The Predecessors of Ohara
In the history of the World Government, it’s highly likely that there were scholars before Ohara who attempted to fill in the gaps and uncover the missing history. The scientists who encountered the ancient robot 200 years ago were probably among them.
200 years ago, an ancient robot suddenly appeared in the Holy Land of Mariejois, but it ran out of power and stopped. The World Government ordered its complete disposal, but the scientists of that time, recognizing its out-of-place nature and its value as a sample, hid it and preserved it for future study. As scientists, they would naturally be curious about not only the robot’s structure and power source but also who made it, when, and for what purpose. The answers to these questions lie in history, and it’s likely that some of those scientists transitioned into archaeology.
Personally, I believe that Dr. Clover might be a descendant of such scientists. In his youth, Dr. Clover traveled the seas, collecting valuable texts in a manner akin to a pirate, but I think his roots trace back to the scientists involved with the ancient robot. If that’s the case, those scientists could be considered the predecessors of Ohara.
Throughout the 800-year history, there were likely many truth-seeking scholars before them, but the discovery of the ancient robot may have been a significant event in the academic world, similar to how Roger ushered in the Great Pirate Era. I can’t help but feel that the World Government’s inability to control such scholars in the past has led to Vegapunk’s message today. Vegapunk might be the culmination of all the scholars who have challenged the World Government and sought the truth of history, and Robin is likely the one to carry on that legacy.
