The Progress of Humanity
ONE PIECE Chapter 1115 Predictions and Theories | The Progress of Humanity
I believe Vegapunk considers human progress to be something that should lead to peace and happiness. While human progress can take many forms—whether it’s the advancement of science, the enhancement of human abilities, or even spiritual growth—all of these are aspects of human progress.
Throughout history, humanity has always had rulers and the ruled, and there has always been conflict and bloodshed, driven by desires, discrimination, and other reasons. This is part of the human condition, and it’s likely that Joy Boy sought to change this.
Joy Boy undoubtedly fought to change the world, but I believe his battle was one of liberation, much like Luffy’s. I think he became a pirate because he chose to fight as an individual, without belonging to any nation or group.
Humanity forms nations, and everyone lives as part of an organized society, bound by rules, but each individual has their own thoughts and feelings… This is the same in the real world, and while we accept this as natural and correct, who can definitively say that it’s the “right” way?
There’s no absolute right way for the world to be; the current world is simply the way it is because it’s the most rational. But perhaps Joy Boy questioned this rationality and fought to challenge the world with that question.
One possible reason for doubting the rational world order is that it inevitably leads to the oppression and marginalization of some people. Additionally, humans are creatures who, despite relying on organizations, also have a contradictory desire to break free from them.
The current world reflects humanity’s nature, but if we aim to create a better world, it would require spiritual growth—in other words, spiritual progress. I believe the ideology that Joy Boy and the Great Kingdom held was one that emphasized this new spiritual progress.
Personally, I think it was an ideology that focused on the importance of the “individual”… Although Vegapunk has said he isn’t sure enough to judge Joy Boy’s morality, making it likely that even he only has a hypothesis, I think he will talk about how human progress is essential for transforming the world…
