In Chapter 1114 of One Piece, the true form of the Mother Flame, created by Vegapunk, was finally revealed. However, it bears a striking resemblance to something seen in the lunar murals… This time, I’ll be delving into various aspects of the Mother Flame!
Resemblance to the Lunar Murals?
When the Mother Flame, crafted by Vegapunk, was unveiled in Chapter 1114, the first thing that struck me was a sense of déjà vu—as if I’d seen something like it in the lunar murals. The lunar murals have been interpreted as depicting the Ancient Weapons, with sea kings that resemble Poseidon illustrated below and a ship that seems to represent Pluton.
What caught my eye was the spherical object depicted above, which, depending on how you look at it, could resemble a clock or a magic circle—possibly Uranus. It made me think that Vegapunk’s Mother Flame might be a real-life manifestation of that image.
In the past, I’ve speculated that the Mother Flame could function as a power source for Uranus. The shape of the tank part of the Mother Flame strongly reminds me of that depiction. Vegapunk once said he had “flown too close to the sun,” and the tank portion of the Mother Flame seems designed with the sun in mind.
While it’s unlikely Vegapunk designed it with that specific intention, the design might have naturally taken on that shape for functional reasons. His comment about “flying too close to the sun” also strengthens the possibility that the Mother Flame is akin to an “artificial sun,” as I’ve speculated in the past. This suggests that it might be something very close to a real sun!
If the object depicted in the lunar murals is indeed similar to the Mother Flame, its origins may lie in lunar civilization, and it’s possible that advanced civilizations from the Void Century had created something similar. However, the Mother Flame might still be incomplete, or perhaps it’s something that should never be completed.
The fact that flames exist underwater is incredibly mysterious, but it could be that the Mother Flame is being cooled. After all, the sun isn’t something humanity can control…
