Did He Connect the Worlds of Land, Sea, and Air?
Joy Boy was born in a highly advanced civilization, and with such a background, his values and worldview must have been quite different from what we understand today. In the world of One Piece, the Fish-Men live on Fish-Man Island 10,000 meters beneath the sea, while humans inhabit Skypiea and the White Sea 10,000 meters above. Although it is possible to reach these places, the risks are extremely high.
However, there seems to be a legitimate route to reach Skypiea, which hasn’t been fully explained yet. Likely, it’s a way to take ships to Skypiea. Both areas are referred to as “seas.”
As I’ve speculated before, Joy Boy might have had a much broader concept of the “sea,” perhaps even attempting to—or actually succeeding in—connecting all seas. Expanding the sea would also expand the possibilities for adventure, which ties into Sanji’s dream of finding the All Blue.
The All Blue is said to be a sea where the North, South, East, and West Blues, along with the Grand Line, all converge. If we take this idea further, it might include the deep seas and the White Sea. I’ve previously mentioned the possibility that space—the “sea of stars”—could also be considered a part of this broader definition of the sea.
If Joy Boy saw the sea in such a vast sense, the scale of his vision would be enormous, encompassing everything from the deepest oceans to outer space. If space, or the “sea of stars,” was considered a part of the sea, then no matter how much one explored, there would always be more to discover.
I believe Joy Boy intended to unite all these seas into one, creating a world where the differences between species become insignificant.
