Doflamingo’s Prediction of Moving to Higher Ground—Is a Massive Battle Imminent? Take the Red Line
Take the Red Line
In his conversation with Magellan, Doflamingo laughed uproariously as he suggested moving to higher ground, saying that if the sea level rises by just five meters, the world will be submerged. The “higher ground” he refers to likely means Mariejois, situated atop the Red Line, which would be highly resistant to the submergence of the world. In essence, Doflamingo seems to be hinting that people should invade Mariejois and seize the Red Line from the Celestial Dragons.
The Celestial Dragons established Mariejois atop the Red Line, not only to look down on the world like gods but also for the safety it provides. As it stands, attacking Mariejois seems impossible without the power of Devil Fruit abilities. While the Revolutionary Army’s attack did manage to strike a blow against the Celestial Dragons, it was far from toppling Mariejois.
Moreover, the Red Line is likely protected from natural disasters, and even in the event of global submergence, it would remain largely unaffected. While Doflamingo, a former Celestial Dragon, might not have predicted or known about the world’s submergence, he undoubtedly understood that living atop the Red Line was far safer than living on the surface.
Doflamingo likely believes that the National Treasure of Mariejois is tied to the world’s submergence, and that the Celestial Dragons plan to abandon the surface-dwellers. His suggestion to Magellan about moving to higher ground probably indicates that he believes the only way for surface-dwellers to survive is to invade Mariejois and seize the Red Line. He seems to be predicting that such a massive battle is inevitable.
To Doflamingo, Vegapunk’s broadcast is undoubtedly an immensely entertaining event, reinforcing his belief that a massive battle is approaching.
