Will Imu Descend Upon Egghead?
In the Future Island Arc, we’ve seen the unprecedented convergence of all the Five Elders on Egghead. This could mean that Imu might also intervene, not just through telepathy, but by sending some form of “presence” to Egghead.
It seems likely that Imu would remain in the Pangaea Castle and send a “projection” instead. We’ve seen Imu in the Flower Room of Pangaea Castle, playing with butterflies, which might be an ability Imu created or something that can be possessed. Perhaps a butterfly imbued with Imu’s will could appear on Egghead, radiating an overwhelming Haki far surpassing that of the Five Elders.
In the past, I’ve written about the concepts of “Zhuangzi’s Butterfly Dream” and the “Butterfly Effect” in relation to Imu. The scene of Imu playing with butterflies is very striking and likely holds significant meaning. I’ve also theorized that the current world can be described as a “world of night,” intentionally crafted by Imu, where the people of the world are trapped in a kind of dream, possibly a nightmare.
Given the imagery of Zhuangzi’s Butterfly Dream, I think Imu’s abilities might involve manipulating dreams, and the butterflies could symbolize this. If a butterfly imbued with Imu’s will were to appear on Egghead and give instructions to the Five Elders or do something to alter the current situation, those who witnessed it might realize that there is someone above the Five Elders.
Imu revealed themselves to King Cobra and personally killed him. Given how dire the current situation has become, it seems odd that Imu would continue to remain silent and simply observe. Perhaps we’ll see a scene where Imu communicates with Luffy through a butterfly.
