Why Did Queen Lily and the Nefertari Family Hide the ‘D’? | Humans Cannot Become Gods

Humans Cannot Become Gods

As I’ve been following the recent developments in ONE PIECE, it feels like this story is slowly uncovering the truths about kings, politicians, freedom and control, gods and religion—concepts deeply rooted in modern values. The narrative seems to be building towards a new set of values and a worldview that humanity will create, leading to the formation of a new world.

Morality and the sense of good and evil are often grounded in concepts of gods and religion. While these aren’t necessarily wrong, I believe that as long as humanity clings to these traditional values, there won’t be any significant progress.

If you were to ask me what kind of values or worldview would lead to a better world, I don’t have an answer. But I hope that Luffy and his crew will find that answer for us.

One thing I can say for certain is that humans cannot become gods. Characters like the Celestial Dragons may exist in our real world—people who, no matter how intelligent, athletic, beautiful, wealthy, or powerful they are, remain human and cannot transcend their humanity.

No matter how hard they try, physically or mentally, humans cannot surpass their inherent limits. The Celestial Dragons and evil rulers exploit the people they control to satisfy their desires, but those desires remain human ones, and their indulgence in luxury only emphasizes their humanity.

Even if they claim to be gods, or act like them, in the end, they are ruled by their desires, not unlike any other human.

In contrast, Vegapunk, who has lived his life in pursuit of humanity’s progress and happiness, seems to embody a divine spirit, far more than the Celestial Dragons. His brilliance and altruism place him closer to a god than any Celestial Dragon could hope to be.

Though it may be driven by desire, Vegapunk’s ambitions are not for personal gain or material wealth.

It seems that 800 years ago, the world was on the brink of a significant transformation, but it ultimately failed because humanity as a whole couldn’t change. Now, as I’ve previously mentioned, I believe Luffy and his crew will show us a new way of living, guiding us towards a new world.

I think the Will of ‘D’ may be connected to this new way of living, representing the foundation for a new world.

That concludes this article. Thank you very much for reading!
