Why Did Queen Lily and the Nefertari Family Hide the ‘D’? | Are the ‘D’ Descendants of the Old Gods?
Are the ‘D’ Descendants of the Old Gods?
Mythology often reflects actual events, such as wars between civilizations, which are then told as battles between different pantheons of gods.
The victors in these “wars of the gods” become the gods of the new order, while the losers are often cast as demons or evil beings. Could the ‘D’ be the remnants of a once powerful race, now fallen from grace? Or perhaps the ‘D’ were beings who willingly abandoned their divine status to live among humans?
Personally, I believe Donquixote Homing’s decision to renounce his Celestial Dragon status and live among humans carries significant meaning. Although his motivations and backstory have not been fully explained, it’s possible that Homing knew the true meaning of the ‘D’ and decided to follow that path.
While it’s unclear if actual gods exist in the ONE PIECE world, it’s evident that the Celestial Dragons consider themselves divine through lineage and power. The Lunarians, superior to ordinary humans, were likely called gods due to their abilities. However, if the true gods ever existed, they might have been those with advanced scientific knowledge, possibly the descendants of the Moon People.
These beings might have descended to Earth, mingled with humans, and, as a way of ensuring their role in guiding the world, left behind the ‘D’ in their names.
If the world ever strayed from the right path, those with the ‘D’ would guide it back, ensuring human happiness. This role would certainly be inconvenient for Imu-sama and the Celestial Dragons.
