Vegapunk’s Message to the D Clan! What Was He About to Say? | The Return of Joy Boy
The Return of Joy Boy
Personally, I think Vegapunk might have been trying to say, “Among you, there may be a reincarnation of Joy Boy.”
Joy Boy was revealed to be the first pirate and the man who fought against the original Twenty Kings. He was also revealed to be the previous Nika. If D is indeed the symbol of hope, then it’s likely connected to Joy Boy, and Vegapunk wanted to communicate this.
Joy Boy is not a proper name but rather a title—a liberator, someone who questions the very structure of the world and offers a new way forward. Vegapunk might have been trying to leave behind not a prediction but a “prophecy” drawn from ancient texts and philosophies.
Vegapunk likely doesn’t have absolute proof that humanity will avoid a world-ending catastrophe or that a new world will emerge. The prophecy he wanted to give to humanity might have been as much about his own wishes and hopes as it was about historical predictions. It’s possible that ancient texts speak of Joy Boy’s return.
Roger and his crew also learned something at Laugh Tale, so it’s entirely possible that Vegapunk, through different means, has come to the same realization.
Whitebeard, too, was told the meaning of D by Roger and predicted a great war before his death. It seems that understanding the meaning of D inevitably leads to that conclusion.
Vegapunk may have wanted to convey that while he can’t judge whether the D Clan is good or evil, they are undoubtedly beings with the potential to become the hope and agents of change for the future of the world.
That concludes this article. Thank you very much for reading to the end!
