Did the Five Elders Witness the Iron Giant 200 Years Ago? | The Iron Giant’s Atonement

The Iron Giant’s Atonement

In a past article, I suggested that the Iron Giant’s attack on Mariejois wasn’t out of revenge against the Celestial Dragons but rather an attempt to retrieve something. That “something,” I believe, is the giant straw hat that Imu has kept in cold storage.

There appear to be several other items in cold storage, likely all related to Joy Boy. While it’s curious that Imu possesses them, it would make sense for the Iron Giant to try and reclaim these items.

Fundamentally, I think Joy Boy and his companions weren’t driven by revenge or retribution but by a desire to fight for freedom and liberation. Looking at Luffy and his crew, it’s clear that they don’t harbor any intention of seeking revenge or vengeance. Their focus has always been on fighting for freedom.

Therefore, the Iron Giant likely came to Mariejois to reclaim Joy Boy’s belongings, not for vengeance. The Giant probably ran out of power, and the Five Elders, or perhaps the Holy Knights, defeated it.

When the Iron Giant first appeared, it had a spear impaled in its abdomen, likely placed there by the Five Elders or the Holy Knights. Given the Five Elders’ apparent hatred for Vegapunk, it seems that their animosity toward the Iron Giant is also deeply personal—perhaps they or their ancestors were directly harmed by it.

In Chapter 1117, the Iron Giant is easily knocked away by the Five Elders, but I believe it will make a comeback. It wouldn’t make sense for such a significant figure to be defeated so quickly.

That concludes this article. Thank you very much for reading to the end!
