ONE PIECE Chapter 1120 Predictions | The True Identities of the Five Elders
The True Identities of the Five Elders
When Saint Mars saw Emet, he immediately recognized him as the same Iron Giant that attacked Mary Geoise 200 years ago. This confirms that at least Saint Mars has seen Emet before. In the past, it was shown that Saint Saturn hasn’t changed in appearance over 38 years, suggesting, like Imu, the possibility of agelessness. Saint Mars’ statement solidifies this.
However, could it be that all five of them had the good fortune of undergoing the ageless surgery of the Op-Op Fruit? I have speculated that if they are indeed ageless, it might be due to the benefits of a Zoan-type Mythical Zoan awakening, which I still believe is highly possible. Mythical beings are often depicted as incredibly long-lived or practically ageless.
Considering this, the Five Elders might have been alive since the Void Century. However, they do not seem to be direct participants of the Void Century, as evidenced by their statements like “I’ve heard that…” or their conversation about giving the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika the name “Gomu Gomu no Mi,” suggesting they did not directly make those decisions.
Thus, I think they were not direct participants. Given this, I believe that during the Void Century, the current Five Elders might have been children. They were likely the offspring of the first 20 kings, princes at the time, entrusted by their parents with control of the world and imbued with their ideology.
The Five Elders were probably raised through a highly biased education to exemplify the ideal ruling class envisioned by the original 20 kings, the shape of which the current Five Elders embody.
Imu probably doesn’t interfere in politics directly, and since the Celestial Dragons becoming “gods” would require exemplars, the Five Elders serve that purpose. Perhaps they are not the direct descendants of the first 20, but the result of several generations, and the time they became Five Elders might differ due to the rarity of obtaining Mythical Zoan Fruits. Yet, they are most likely raised to serve as models for what “gods” should be.
They might not think of themselves as higher life forms than humans but recognize their lineage, power, and spirituality as superior, allowing them to treat humans as insects or garbage. I believe Emet’s involvement might reveal such truths about the Five Elders. But from Emet’s perspective, what kind of existence are the Five Elders?
