Was the Goal of the First 20 to Become Gods? | No Need for Old Gods
No Need for Old Gods
Saturn referred to the Sun God Nika as an ‘old god.’ The battle during the Void Century was likely also a fight to expel these old gods. The Mythical Zoan types include fruits possessing abilities of gods or Buddhas, such as Nika, the Great Buddha, and the Giant Deity. If they were once revered by the people as entities to seek salvation and pray to, they had to be exterminated as well.
I believe these gods existed, but they were unnecessary from the rulers’ perspective, and their absence was preferable. In the past, I have written that if humanity could achieve a new way of existence in the world, it would be progress. However, Saturn declared that progress was unnecessary for humanity. That is their belief: that humans do not need wisdom or power beyond what they currently possess, and it is best for them to monopolize wisdom and power for the sake of ‘peace.’
They are essentially dictating humanity’s future for their convenience. Therefore, having the old god Nika be recognized as a deity for the people and remembered is highly problematic for them. Elbaf has maintained its Sun faith…Nika faith, and the Buccaneer tribe has passed down Nika’s legend. The Celestial Dragons couldn’t completely kill the old god and have now allowed its revival, suggesting that the Celestial Dragons are only human after all.
If Nika, as a god, represents the people’s hope materialized, it also means that no matter how much power the Celestial Dragons possess—even if they can sink the world again—they cannot defeat Nika and the people. Like how the truth can’t be changed even if the facts can, what cannot be changed has merely been forcibly suppressed, disguised, and distorted. Now, it seems they can no longer hold it back.
Frankly speaking, everything they have done is futile, and the result has been the creation of countless misfortunes. Thank you very much for reading until the end!
