Prosthetic Right Hand and Right Leg?
Looking at Joy Boy’s silhouette before the Nika transformation, his right hand and right leg feel out of place. Compared to his left hand and left leg, they are too thin. The right hand’s shape seems odd, and the right leg looks like a stick from the knee down…
It might just be the angle, but prosthetics are commonly associated with pirates, and given Joy Boy fought against the original 20, it’s unsurprising if he lost parts of his body in battle.
If that’s the case, Joy Boy likely wasn’t strong from the start. Like Luffy, he probably faced near-death experiences and grew stronger through such trials. Roger and Shanks likely had similar experiences, as suggested by Shanks’ monologue to Luffy shortly after Ace’s death.
It’s highly plausible that Joy Boy suffered a crushing defeat and nearly died, possibly at the hands of someone from the Figarland family, an ancestor of Shanks, or even Im himself. I previously speculated that the Figarland family is closely tied to true pirates, and Shanks’ ancestor being a top-class swordsman who took Joy Boy’s right hand and right leg is a possibility.
Perhaps the loss of Shanks’ left arm is a fated grudge tied to his bloodline—a destiny beyond Shanks’ fault…
However, there seemed to be no abnormalities in his right hand and right leg after his transformation into Nika…
Maybe that’s how it is after transforming, or perhaps his right hand and right leg weren’t prosthetic. Joy Boy might have lost his right hand and right leg just before disappearing or vanishing from the world. Like Shanks, he became stronger despite losing parts of his body, with his Haki increasing as well. Joy Boy’s Haki in Chapter 1122 might have grown to compensate for lost body parts…
If he had a prosthetic right hand and right leg, then being one-eyed and having an eye patch would complete the pirate image…
