Why Did Kizaru Give Food to Luffy?

Kizaru’s Future and the Reason Behind Giving Food to Luffy

In the latest ONE PIECE Volume 110 SBS, a question was raised about who provided food to the weakened Luffy during the Egghead arc.

While the answer wasn’t explicitly confirmed, all signs point to Kizaru as the person behind this act.

Let’s dive into the details surrounding this theory!

Why Did Kizaru Give Food to Luffy?

During the Egghead arc, Kizaru (Borsalino) was tasked with the cruel and harsh mission of assassinating his close friend, Dr. Vegapunk—a mission he ultimately carried out.

When Luffy asked him, “Why do you want to kill Vegapunk?” Kizaru openly responded, “I don’t want to kill him,” revealing his deep conflict about the task.

Kizaru referred to himself as a “corporate drone,” implying that he had no choice but to follow orders as a soldier, even if it went against his personal wishes.

During the arc, Luffy, after using Gear 5, became temporarily incapacitated. Someone secretly gave him food to recover, though the identity of this person wasn’t revealed at the time.

In Volume 110 SBS, it was strongly implied that this someone was Kizaru.

Given Kizaru’s ability to move at the speed of light, he is one of the few characters who could have performed this act without being noticed.

But why would Kizaru do this?

Despite his orders, Kizaru knew that Luffy and the Straw Hats were defending Vegapunk. He may have hoped that Luffy, whose strength had increased a hundredfold since their encounter two years ago, could pull off a miracle and help Vegapunk escape the heavily guarded Egghead Island.

If Luffy succeeded, Vegapunk would survive, and Kizaru wouldn’t have to kill his close friend.

Moreover, Kizaru’s mission did not explicitly include eliminating Luffy and the Straw Hats. Their presence was an unexpected variable, so a failed mission wouldn’t necessarily mean disobedience.

It seems Kizaru attempted to use Luffy as a means to save Vegapunk, though his plan ultimately failed with the intervention of the FIVE ELDERS.

Tragically, Kizaru ended up delivering a fatal blow to Vegapunk.
