New Giant Warrior Pirates’ Road is the Sun God! Luffy and the Crew are on Fire, Destroying the Kingdom!
Confirmed spoilers for ONE PIECE Chapter 1129! In the previous chapter, Luffy and the crew, realizing they were in a strange country, began to break free when the “Sun God” appeared… This time, I’ll write about the confirmed spoilers for Chapter 1129, including some analysis!
How Luffy and the Crew Were Kidnapped
In ONE PIECE Chapter 1129, we finally learn how Luffy and the crew were kidnapped. It turns out that behind the scenes, they had been drinking a delicious alcohol that, while tasty, reportedly causes hallucinations when consumed in excess. While Zoro, Sanji, Nami, and Usopp were likely the ones drinking, Luffy and Chopper don’t drink alcohol—in fact, they probably aren’t old enough to drink.
It makes sense that, after the intense battles at Egghead, they were exhausted and simply fell into a deep sleep. Luffy, in particular, tends to sleep and wake whenever he feels like it, so even if he were kidnapped, he would sleep until fully rested…
That being said, the entire crew, including the Great Eirik, falling asleep felt a bit strange, didn’t it? The explanation given is that a sleep-inducing mist forms in the sea area where Luffy and the crew disappeared with the Sunny. Apparently, the mist caused the entire crew to fall asleep.
Taking advantage of that, someone kidnapped Luffy and the crew, along with the Sunny, for some unknown purpose. It seems this was an oversight by the Giant Warrior Pirates! Dr. Brogy and Dorry, along with the other crew members, should be well-acquainted with the waters near Elbaf. If they had forgotten something so crucial, this event could be chalked up to a careless mistake by Dorry and the others.
That said, the mist must have a powerful sleep-inducing effect to put humans—and even giants—into such a deep sleep. The New World continues to show us mysterious weather phenomena that we still don’t fully understand. Compared to the dangerous Raijin Island, where lightning constantly falls, a mist that just puts you to sleep seems relatively harmless, but the question remains: What does the Sun God want with Luffy and the crew?
In the previous chapter, the Sun God said, “You won’t escape!” which clearly implies he wants to keep Luffy and the crew trapped in his country.
