Is Yasopp’s Sniping Power at the Level of Hakoku!? | Can Usopp Surpass His Father?
Can Usopp Surpass His Father?
After seeing Yasopp’s incredible strength, I can’t help but think about Van Augur from Blackbeard’s crew.
Augur was introduced two years ago, and even back then, he demonstrated exceptional long-range sniping abilities. His accuracy likely stems not just from his sharp eyesight, but from his advanced Observation Haki. We saw a glimpse of his sniping prowess during his battle against the Heart Pirates, though it didn’t seem on par with Yasopp’s.
However, Augur did show that he could easily kill a Logia user like Caribou, indicating that he can likely imbue his bullets with Armament Haki. Now that he’s eaten the Wapu Wapu no Mi, his ability to snipe from nearly untraceable positions gives him a significant advantage. I believe Augur will soon rise as one of the top snipers, rivaling Yasopp.
Then, of course, there’s Usopp.
Although Usopp has grown a lot since the two-year time skip, it feels like his peak was his ‘God Usopp’ moment in Dressrosa. In the Wano and Egghead arcs, he hasn’t had many standout moments.
Usopp clearly has talent, as evidenced by his father’s strength. But what’s holding him back? I think it’s his mindset.
Usopp’s defining traits are his cowardice and negativity, which likely act as mental barriers preventing him from reaching his full potential. He seems to create limits for himself that are hard to overcome.
That being said, when push comes to shove, Usopp is the kind of guy who can pull himself together, and when it’s to protect his friends, he’s willing to put his life on the line.
I believe that in Elbaf, Usopp will have the growth spurt we’ve all been waiting for. The key moment for him will be when he’s the only one who can protect something important, and he takes on that responsibility head-on.
In some ways, Usopp is similar to Coby. Coby awakened his Haki under the extreme pressure of the Hachinosu battle. Although Usopp hasn’t undergone the same intense training, he’s experienced countless life-or-death situations, and his mind and body have undoubtedly grown stronger.
Just like Coby’s moment at Hachinosu, I believe Usopp will find himself in an extreme situation where he surpasses his own limits—and in doing so, he may finally surpass his father.
As the future Sniper of the Pirate King, Usopp will need to surpass both Van Augur and Yasopp!
