Is Yasopp’s Sniping Power at the Level of Hakoku!? | Are Bullets Truly Powerful?

Are Bullets Truly Powerful?

In the real world, guns and bullets are deadly weapons that can easily take lives. This holds true in the world of ONE PIECE as well—even Oden met his end from a bullet fired by Kaido.

In Oden’s case, his body had already been pushed to its limits by his boiling punishment, which probably explains why his Haki was depleted. Still, it shows that even the mightiest warriors can fall if a bullet hits a vital spot.

However, in ONE PIECE, many characters can survive direct hits from cannons or bazookas, so bullets sometimes seem weaker by comparison.

There’s also the fact that bullets are incredibly hard to land on skilled fighters, as we’ve seen many times.
For most top fighters, bullets seem to serve as finishing blows rather than a primary threat.

Yet, if a bullet hits a vital point, even the strongest of characters could suffer serious injuries. Yasopp’s sniping is particularly lethal because his aim is almost guaranteed to hit, and the damage he can inflict doesn’t even require hitting vital spots—it’s destructive regardless.

Of course, to achieve that level of power, one would need to have exceptional Haki. And for that Haki to inflict damage, it would need to surpass the opponent’s own Haki.

Kaido once said, ‘Haki surpasses everything.’ This statement can be interpreted broadly, and it seems to suggest that no matter the weapon—whether it’s a sword, an axe, a spear, bare hands, or a bullet—Haki is what ultimately determines the outcome of a fight.

In essence, it’s not the weapon that matters, but the Haki behind it. Guns remain a terrifying weapon, though, especially for ordinary people and pirates alike, as even average citizens in ONE PIECE use them to take lives.

The Red Hair Pirates seem to favor guns, and with their full-scale involvement, we may see a rise in the importance of snipers in the story going forward.
