In ONE PIECE Chapter 1126, something strange happens to Luffy and the others while they were partying too hard, causing the Sunny to mysteriously disappear.
In this article, I’ll dive into what could have happened!
The Mysterious Disappearance of the Sunny
Luffy and the others were partying on two ships—the Sunny and the Great Erik—as their celebration raged on. After a wild time, they all seemed to have fallen asleep from exhaustion.
Later, when Dorry and Brogy woke up aboard the Great Erik, they noticed that the Sunny, which had been sailing alongside them, had vanished! They searched for the ship everywhere but couldn’t find it, leading to a panicked reaction. Robin, Franky, Brook, and Jinbe, who were also aboard the Great Erik, were equally shocked.
With no one witnessing its disappearance, they have no clue where or how the Sunny vanished.
Afterward, there’s a scene where Nami wakes up in a strange place, making it clear that those who disappeared are safe. Nami’s outfit has changed, and she’s now dressed like a warrior with a large sword on her back.
If the ship had merely sunk, then Luffy and Chopper—both Devil Fruit users—would be in danger, but the atmosphere suggests otherwise. It’s likely they were pulled or trapped in some sort of mysterious space.
There was a mention during the party that drinking too much of the giants’ liquor can cause hallucinations, which might have been a factor. However, Dorry and Brogy seem sober after their shock, so the disappearance is undoubtedly real. Nami waking up in that strange space confirms that much.
Personally, I believe the Sunny was pulled into a special dimension.
We’ve seen characters like Brûlée from the Big Mom Pirates, who used the powers of the Mira Mira no Mi to drag people into the mirror world, leading to Luffy’s famous battle with Katakuri.
It’s possible that a similar Devil Fruit ability might be at play here.
Nami’s forced change of outfit seems to point to the influence of a Devil Fruit power. The warrior-like appearance also gives off a strong Norse mythology vibe, especially given how close they are to Elbaf.
From this, I imagine Luffy and the others may have been dragged into a world with a Norse mythology theme.
