ONE PIECE Chapter 1126+ Predictions and Analysis | Were They Truly Friends?

Did Lucci Retaliate Against the Traitor Stussy or Let Her Go?

In ONE PIECE Chapter 1125, when Lucci reunited with the CP agents, he was asked about Stussy. He answered that he had killed her.

Let’s dive deeper into this situation.

Were They Truly Friends?

During the Egghead Incident, Lucci, as the Director of CP-0, was tasked with assassinating the seven Vegapunks, accompanied by Kaku and Stussy.

However, Stussy betrayed them, siding with her “creator” Vegapunk and turning against Lucci and Kaku.

However, in her communication with Edison, Stussy admitted that she saw Lucci and Kaku as friends, and it was clear she was struggling internally with her betrayal.

When Kaku was injured in the battle with the Seraphim and while Lucci was targeting Vegapunk and the Straw Hat Pirates, Stussy stayed by Kaku’s side to protect him.

Despite her betrayal, Kaku—though upset with Stussy—still cared for her, as evidenced by his words advising her to flee before Lucci returned, as he believed Lucci would surely kill her.

It’s evident that Kaku and Stussy didn’t wish for each other’s deaths. Kaku has always had a more human side, but even Lucci, despite his cold and ruthless nature, was well-liked by his colleagues during his CP-9 days. It seems Lucci also recognized his comrades as people to be protected.

When Stussy’s betrayal was revealed, Lucci’s reaction of disbelief indicated that he considered Stussy to be a trustworthy friend.

Before the Egghead mission, Lucci casually mentioned the destruction of Lulusia Kingdom in front of Stussy and Kaku, which indicates that he felt comfortable enough around them to let his guard down.
This further suggests that he trusted them deeply.

Given that Lucci’s trust was betrayed, it wouldn’t have been surprising if he had killed Stussy, as he claimed in Chapter 1125. However, I personally believe Lucci let her go.

Stussy’s Devil Fruit ability is still unknown, and I find it hard to believe she was simply captured and killed by Lucci.

There might be some changes in Lucci’s mindset as well…
