Did the Legendary Iron Giant Awaken with the Drums of Liberation? | What Does the Apology to Joy Boy Mean?

In ONE PIECE Chapter 1111, the ancient robot fully awakened from its 200-year slumber and stood tall on the land of Egghead Island.
Its first words were an apology to Joy Boy…
Let’s dive into what this means!

Was Its Power Source the Drums of Liberation?

After lying dormant for 200 years since its energy ran out upon appearing in the Holy Land of Mariejois, the ancient robot finally awakened.
But was it powered by the Drums of Liberation that we heard through Luffy’s heartbeats?
In previous speculations, I suggested that the ancient civilization from the Void Century might have developed a mechanism that converts the vibrations of the Drums of Liberation—produced by Luffy’s Gear 5-activated heart—into energy.
Given the advanced technology of that civilization, it wouldn’t be surprising if such a system existed.
If that’s the case, it would mean that the Iron Giant can only be powered by the presence of “Nika.”
I’ve also speculated that the fusion reactor used to create the Mother Flame may work on similar principles. If the ancient robot contains a similar engine, it could have been designed to absorb the vibrations from the Drums of Liberation and start moving again.
Once activated, it might function like a near-perpetual motion machine, but, just like the sun has a lifespan, it couldn’t generate energy forever and eventually stopped 200 years ago in Mariejois.
The idea that it responded to the Drums of Liberation seems plausible, but if that’s not the case, then it might have entered a self-imposed sleep rather than an energy shortage.
In that case, we still wouldn’t know why it appeared in Mariejois…
I do believe the Drums of Liberation were its power source, and if that’s true, it makes sense why even Vegapunk couldn’t figure out how it works.
But why did it apologize to Joy Boy when it awoke?
