In ONE PIECE Chapter 1111, it was revealed that not only Saint Saturn but also the rest of the FIVE ELDERS seem to possess immortal bodies. But how can they be defeated?
Let’s dive into this topic!

Is Immortality Unnatural?

Saint Saturn displayed an astonishing ability to regenerate, even after losing an arm.
It’s now clear that the other FOUR ELDERS possess the same regenerative powers. This suggests that the awakened form of their Mythical Zoan powers might have an extraordinary recovery rate far beyond that of Ancient or Prehistoric Zoan fruits.
However, what struck me was that when Bonney stabbed Saturn, not only did his wound close after he pulled out the sword, but even the bloodstains vanished.
Franky emphasized this point, which suggests that their regenerative ability extends to erasing any evidence of damage, including blood. Another curious thing is how Saturn’s clothes regenerated along with his arm.
It seemed more like restoration than simple healing, as if even the damage itself was “erased” from existence.
The FIVE ELDERS and Imu have a strong image of erasing anything inconvenient to them, and I feel like this ability is tied to that image.
As I’ve speculated before, their ability to regenerate after any injury could very well involve negating the damage altogether, making it as though the injury never occurred.
If that’s the case, Luffy’s description of them as “immortal” seems spot on.
Not only that, but the FIVE ELDERS, much like Imu, have also been speculated to possess some form of pseudo-immortality. If they have achieved both immortality and eternal youth, that would be the closest thing to “eternal life.”
However, the large scar on Saint Saturn’s face suggests that their immortality is not absolute.
There must be a way to inflict lasting damage, even on their immortal bodies…
