Was Joy Boy Originally Royalty?
In the past, I’ve written about how Conqueror’s Haki seems to be inherited through bloodlines, and this trend is undeniable.
In ONE PIECE Chapter 1122, when Emet released Joy Boy’s Conqueror’s Haki…
It was a given that Joy Boy possessed Conqueror’s Haki, as everyone assumed.
If that’s the case, it’s highly likely that Joy Boy was born with Conqueror’s Haki due to his bloodline.
This suggests that he might have been royalty from some nation.
Personally, I imagine Joy Boy as a character who combines the qualities of Luffy and Shanks, which would make him quite similar to Roger.
Shanks, a member of the Figarland family, a noble lineage of the Celestial Dragons, carries an air of nobility, and his strong Conqueror’s Haki seems to stem from this background.
Luffy and Roger’s bloodlines, however, are shrouded in mystery.
Yet, the Monkey and Gol families are incredibly powerful, and they share the common trait of the D. initial.
The D. initial signifies something special, and even compared to Shanks of the Figarland family, it stands out as a reason to possess Conqueror’s Haki.
Joy Boy might also have had the D. initial, as Emet’s strong reaction to the D. suggests.
The D. lineage predates the Void Century, and it’s possible that the D. spread across the world, including the sunken Old World, and that they established nations and ruled as kings.
Joy Boy might have been royalty, but like Sabo, he might have rejected his lineage and set out to live freely on the sea.
This idea overlaps with Sanji’s story, and since Emet apologized for not making Joy Boy a king, it creates some contradictions.
However, if Joy Boy was originally royalty, it’s possible that he sought to build his own kingdom from scratch.
Joy Boy must have had a compelling reason to leave his home and become a pirate, and I am personally very curious about this.
I believe it was to fulfill some dream.
It seems likely that Joy Boy’s unfulfilled dream is the same as Roger and Luffy’s “Dream at the End.”
This concludes the article. Thank you very much for reading it to the end!
