The Concept of Haki Existed During the Void Century | The Qualities of a King and Bloodline

The Qualities of a King and Bloodline

Conqueror’s Haki is said to be the “qualities of a king,” and many of the most famous individuals in the world possess it. Luffy’s view of the Pirate King is “the freest person on the seas,” which suggests that he sees a king as someone who embodies freedom. This is accurate, as a king is indeed in a position to act freely without being bound by others.

Everyone desires freedom, but Conqueror’s Haki might be rooted in the will to be free. However, to maintain freedom requires immense mental strength. The ability to stand firm even when opposed by the world, or to remain true to oneself despite being different from others, requires a unique strength of will.

If Conqueror’s Haki is tied to the will to be free, it seems unrelated to bloodline. Yet, the tendency for it to run in families suggests otherwise. Many of the characters in ONE PIECE who possess Conqueror’s Haki share a common trait: a strong desire for freedom and a refusal to be controlled by others.

Given this, it’s likely that the ancestors of those with Conqueror’s Haki were kings during the Void Century, when many nations and peoples existed. The strength of will required to be a king, the ability to endure anything for freedom, might have been passed down through the bloodlines.

However, if we consider the idea from a different angle, the bloodlines that survived the great cataclysm and still carry Conqueror’s Haki might actually be stronger, having survived intense competition. In this sense, the current generation may possess even greater power.

I’ve been pondering Conqueror’s Haki in this context, but in Chapter 1122, Joy Boy used an intriguing expression: “knotting” Haki.
