In ONE PIECE Chapter 1111, Saint Valkyrie seems to demonstrate a unique way of using Haki, and it also appears that Shanks might be employing some sort of special technique as well…
Today, I’d like to delve into this topic!
The Haki Manipulation of the FIVE ELDERS
In Chapter 1111, Saint Valkyrie uses a wave-like form of Haki to confuse Luffy, suggesting that the FIVE ELDERS have an unusual way of manipulating Haki.
Saint Saturn, for instance, has shown the ability to blow people away with just his gaze, without any physical movement, and can paralyze others with an invisible pressure, which seems more like an advanced Haki manipulation technique rather than the power of a Devil Fruit.
In the past, I’ve suggested that Haki might be usable like magic, and it seems clear that the FIVE ELDERS possess a level of Haki manipulation that allows them to use it as freely as their hands and feet, indicating an extremely advanced skill level.Luffy learned the concept of Ryou in Wano Country and mastered the technique of enveloping his body in Armament Haki, which allowed him to inflict damage to his opponent’s internal structure. This led him to the realization that he could also imbue his attacks with Conqueror’s Haki, which became crucial in his fight against Kaido.
However, even after acquiring these skills, Kaido still considered Luffy’s abilities to be “crude” and was able to knock him out with a single blow, showing that Luffy was only at the entrance of the realm of the “handful of strong ones” that Kaido spoke of.
After defeating Kaido, Luffy fully entered this realm, but it’s possible that this realm is vast and deep, with the FIVE ELDERS possessing a level of mastery beyond even Kaido and Big Mom.
And it seems Shanks might share this same level of mastery…
